ST. LOUIS – A woman is seeking more than $50,000 in damages after falling at the North County Transit Center.

Wilma Pennington-Thurman filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency, doing business as Metro, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 15, 2017, she fell on her knees and hand while trying to catch a bus at the defendant's parking lot of North County Transit Center. She alleges she stumbled at the end of the parking lot when her foot struck something.

The plaintiff alleges she suffered injuries resulting in pain and suffering and medical expenses that will continue in the future.

The plaintiff holds Bi-State Development Agency responsible because the defendant allegedly placed the tactile paving so close to a speed bump and created a safety hazard.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of $50,710, plus medical bills upon request. She is representing herself.
