ST. LOUIS – A patient of a St. Louis hospital alleges it failed to monitor his post-operative status and that he was injured.

Robert Levins filed a complaint on Sept. 14 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against SSM-SLUH Inc., doing business as SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 27, 2016, he presented himself to the defendant for a left hip hemiarthroplasty. As a result of defendant's alleged negligence, he alleges he suffered serious and permanent injuries, resulting in great pain, disability and loss of normal life and damages of more than $25,000.

The plaintiff holds SSM-SLUH Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to regularly check and manage his blood glucose levels, failed to maintain and manage his caloric intake and failed to monitor post-operative status.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs. He is represented by John J. Hopkins of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Alton, Illinois.
