ST. LOUIS – Damages are being sought from an Indiana tractor-trailer driver and his employer over a rear-end collision on an interstate in St. Louis.

Murad Motan filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Dwayne Smotherman and Target Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 22, 2014, he was driving his Toyota Sienna traveling east on Interstate 64 when the commercial truck and trailer owned by defendant Target and operated by defendant Smotherman struck his vehicle from the rear.

The plaintiff holds Smotherman and Target Corp. responsible because defendant Smotherman negligently operated the commercial truck at an excessive speed, failed to keep a proper lookout, followed his vehicle too closely and failed to avoid colliding with his vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $25,000, plus costs and all other relief that are proper and just. He is represented by Daniel J, Bruntrager of Bruntrager & Billings PC in Clayton.
