ST. LOUIS – A security guard alleges he lost his job because of false allegations of mishandling prisoners.

Thomas Parks filed a complaint on Sept. 24 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Department of Public Safety alleging wrongful discharge and slander.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed as a guard at the St. Louis City Workhouse for several years. The suit states on May 23, 2017, he was accused of mishandling prisoners and the defendant requested his resignation. He alleges the defendant brought charges against him, he pleaded not guilty, and he was found not guilty at trial.

As a result of the false criminal charges, he alleges he lost his job and thousands of dollars in salary.

The plaintiff holds Department of Public Safety responsible because the defendant allegedly judged him without due process of law and without evidence.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount greater than $75,000, plus costs. He is represented by David L Pentland of David L Pentland, Attorney at Law in St. Louis.
