ST. LOUIS – A woman alleges she slipped down the basement steps of her residence because of soap and water left on the steps by a cleaning company.

Leondra Henton filed a complaint on Sept. 21 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Bridges Carpet & Restoration Services LLC, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 2, 2017, she resided at 5883 Maffitt St., St. Louis, which is owned by defendant Maffitt Garden Homes. The suit states the sewer of the property has backed up into the basement on prior occasions and Bridges Carpet & Restoration Services was hired to clean the basement.

The suit states the basement was cleaned in November 2017. While attempting to descend the stairwell to inspect the work, the plaintiff alleges she slipped and fell. She alleges she suffered injuries to her head, neck, right shoulder, right ankle and left arm.

The plaintiff holds Bridges Carpet & Restoration Services LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to keep the stairwell free from water, soap or other foreign substances and failed to dry the steps.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs, interest and all other relief that are necessary and proper. She is represented by Kurt E. Wolfgram of Wolfgram & Associates PC in St. Louis.
