ST. LOUIS – Three individuals injured in a collision while traveling in a rental car allege they are entitled to uninsured motorist coverage since the driver fled the scene.

Lauren Johnson-Jones, Lamont Johnson, Marcellus Gillespie and LaDonna Harper filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Hertz Vehicles LLC seeking uninsured motorist benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on May 20, they were traveling in a rented 2017 Toyota Camry from the defendant and were traveling east on St. Louis Avenue when an unknown driver struck their vehicle from behind and fled the scene of the accident.

The plaintiffs allege they are entitled to uninsured motorist coverage from the defendant per their agreement with the defendant.

The plaintiffs hold Hertz Vehicles LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay uninsured motorist benefits to which plaintiffs are entitled to receive under the Missouri law.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount between $25,000 and $75,000 for each plaintiff, plus costs and all other relief that is proper and just. They are represented by Kevin A. Sullivan of Sauter Sullivan LLC in St. Louis.
