ST. LOUIS — A guest is suing Jo Pleas and Kevin Pleas, et al., Airbnb operators, citing alleged breach of duty and negligence.

Jennifer Benkert filed a complaint on Oct. 10, in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court, against the defendants alleging that they breached their duty to provide a safe environment.

The plaintiff alleges that on March 2, she stayed at an Airbnb home, at 4372 Gibson Ave. In the morning, while waiting in the back alley, a pit bull raced from the backyard and attacked her for about 30 seconds.

She was severely and permanently injured, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiff holds Jo Pleas and Kevin Pleas, et al., responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duty to warn others of potential danger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount in excess of $75,000, punitive damages, costs and interest.

She is represented by John E. Bordeau and Elizabeth A. Evers of Sanders Warren Russell & Scheer LLP in Overland Park, Kansas.
