Bryan Cave issued the following announcement on Nov. 9.

St. Louis Partner Randy Soriano has been honored by the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association with the Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, C.S.C., Award. This award is conferred on a past graduate for outstanding service in the field of government, patriotism, public service or local, state and national politics.

Soriano and fellow alum Matt Cutler were honored for their work to help combat-injured veterans through the Joshua Chamberlain Society (JCS), a 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt charity they founded 10 years ago. The organization, named for a Civil War hero and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, provides long-term support to veterans who have sustained permanent combat injuries fighting the long war on terror for our nation. It also provides on-going support to the children of veterans who have been killed in action. Founded in St. Louis, Mo., JCS has expanded to a second chapter serving the Nashville, Tenn., area. Each chapter runs independently, so donors know their contributions stay with their local JCS branch to support local injured veterans.

“At its core, Notre Dame inspires love of family, loyalty, faithfulness and service to community and country – values that formed us at Notre Dame and which became the foundation for what we have been able to accomplish through the Joshua Chamberlain Society,” Soriano and Cutler said in a release. “As such, we are honored and humbled to receive the Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, C.S.C., Award and do so on behalf of so many others, including family and friends who have been essential to JCS’s success, as well as all service members who have been injured or killed in combat, especially the 19 JCS heroes who have been adopted into JCS’s Notre Dame-inspired ‘family.’”

Soriano attended Notre Dame on an NROTC scholarship and served in the US Marine Corps before becoming an attorney. At Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Soriano’s litigation and trial practice focuses on complex contested matters in the areas of products liability, intellectual property, commercial litigation, toxic tort and class actions. His practice includes in-depth experience with mass torts, multidistrict litigation, and the representation of corporate clients in products liability claims alleging personal injury and wrongful death in courts throughout the country.
