ST. LOUIS — A plan participant is suing Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., alleging the administrator failed to honor its obligations under the policy.

Shaun Mell filed a complaint on Oct. 30, in the St. Louis Circuit Court, against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging the administrator failed to honor its obligations under the policy.

The plaintiff alleges that in April 2017, he stopped receiving his long-term disability benefits. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance responsible because despite medical evidence to his claim, defendant failed and refused to continue paying his long-term disability benefits without just cause or excuse, according to court documents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for a sum exceeding $25,000, with interest, penalties, costs, attorney's fees and such other just and proper relief.

He is represented by Matthew P. O'Grady of The Onder Law Firm in St. Louis.
