ST. LOUIS – A motorist injured in a collision with an uninsured driver is seeking damages from his insurer over its alleged failure to pay his claim.

Mikchael Berra filed a complaint on Nov. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Safeco Insurance Co. of Illinois alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 3, 2017, he was injured in a motor vehicle collision with an uninsured driver near the intersection of Ten Brook Road and Jeffco Boulevard in Jefferson County. He alleges he sustained injuries and incurred medical bills of approximately $10,000 for which he filed a claim for the uninsured motorist coverage under the insurance policy issued by defendant.

The plaintiff holds Safeco Insurance Co. Illinois responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay his claim for uninsured motorist benefits.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $25,000, plus costs and all other relief that is just and proper. He is represented by William K. Meehan of Meehan Law Firm in University City.
