ST. LOUIS – A shopper at a St. Louis supermarket alleges that a protruding shelf caused her to fall.

Crystal Smith filed a complaint on Nov. 19 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Natural Bridge Supermarket, doing business as City Supermarket, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 19, 2013, the plaintiff went to defendant's City Supermarket to purchase groceries and she fell there after striking her foot on a protruding shelf. She alleges she sustained injuries to her left knee, left hip and back and incurred medical expenses of more than $2,000 as a result.

The plaintiff holds Natural Bridge Supermarket responsible because the defendant allegedly improperly installed or secured the shelving.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount greater than $25,000. She is represented by Cecil Skaggs of Central West End Law Office in St. Louis.
