ST. LOUIS – A tenant alleges unsanitary conditions at a St. Louis property caused her to develop asthma and other illnesses.

Kiyerra Mems filed a complaint on Nov. 20 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Joseph Brantley alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 24, 2016, she entered into a lease agreement with defendant to live in his property on Cologne Avenue in St. Louis. After moving in, she alleges she began to experience allergy symptoms due to mold, water and open sewage in the basement.

The plaintiff holds Brantley responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a clean property free of toxic mold and open sewage and failed to give adequate warning of such condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant of more than $25,000, with interest, costs and all other relief deemed proper and just. She is represented by William T. Dowd and Kevin D. Lane of Dowd & Dowd PC in St. Louis.
