ST. LOUIS – A Jones Act seaman alleges he was injured while working on a vessel on the Mississippi River in St. Louis.

Jamie Brinkley filed a complaint on Dec. 4 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against J. B. Marine Service Inc. citing the Jones Act.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 21, 2015, the plaintiff was a deckhand/welder aboard defendant's M/V Christina Marie and was injured when a clamp on a barge cover he was attempting to open malfunctioned and caused him to fall.

The plaintiff holds J B Marine Service Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide safe tools and equipment and failed to provide adequate staff and trained crew.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $25,000, with interest, costs and all other relief that is proper and just. He is represented by James N. Guirl II of Guirl Law Firm in St. Louis.
