ST. LOUIS – The owner of a St. Louis property is seeking damages from a tenant after the tenant's minor child allegedly caused a fire in the kitchen and damaged the property.

Sabrina Baldwin filed a complaint on Dec. 7 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Sherre Wilkes alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 21, 2014, defendant leased plaintiff's real property on Granberry Way Lane in St. Louis. The suit states on Jan. 29, a fire broke out and damaged the property due to the negligence of defendant's minor child. The plaintiff alleges the child left hot oil unattended on a stove.

Due to fire damage, the plaintiff alleges the property was depreciated in the amount of $54,683.24.

The plaintiff holds Wilkes responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep the property in good condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for all damages, plus costs and all other relief deemed just and proper. She is represented by Christopher Durso and Travis Gray of Evans and Dixon LLC in St. Louis.
