ST. LOUIS – A St. Francois County couple alleges the negligence of two medical facilities contributed to the death of their 5-year-old son.
Margaret and Glenn Kerr filed a complaint on Dec. 17 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against St. Louis University and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital alleging wrongful death.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 20, 2016, Margaret and Glenn Kerr presented their son, Gavin Kerr, to defendant Cardinal Glennon. The suit states Gavin had a history of seizures and they were instructed to slowly wean him off of one medication and to start another.
The plaintiffs allege they contacted Cardinal Glennon in November and December 2016 concerning seizures and a rash, and a Dec. 30, 2016, EEG was abnormal. The suit states Gavin died in January 2017 at the age of 5.
The plaintiffs hold St. Louis University and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly titrate and place decedent on medication to prevent seizures.
The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $25,000, with costs and expenses. They are represented by Josh E. Tolin of Connon & Tolin LLC in Eureka and Joseph L. Goff of Reeves & Goff PC in Farmington.
