ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis driver alleges a Jennings man was unlawfully stopped in a roadway and caused a collision.

Anthony Thomas filed a complaint on Jan. 4 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Robert Paul Cooley alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 15, 2018, he was driving a 2004 BMW traveling west on Interstate 70 in St. Louis when he collided with the rear of defendant's vehicle. He alleges the defendant had unlawfully stopped and/or parked in the roadway without lights.

The plaintiff alleges he suffered injuries to his back and hip that required medical intervention as a result of the crash.

The plaintiff holds Cooley responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully stopped and failed to use the proper warning devices.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs and all other relief deemed fair and proper. He is represented by Keith Short of Short & Daugherty PC in Alton, Illinois.
