Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on March 25.
Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Employment Disputes, Litigation and Arbitration Practice Chair Denise Drake has been recognized with the Litigation Practitioner Award, as part of the elite Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2019 Women’s Justice Awards.
Drake will be recognized on Thursday, April 25, during the annual Women’s Justice Awards dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Louis. The ceremony recognizes women in the legal profession, including judges, legal scholars and private practitioners.
“Denise is an outstanding attorney whose contributions have exemplified what it means to be a leader,” said Polsinelli Labor and Employment Department Chair Nancy Rafuse. “Not only has Denise built a powerful legal career for herself at the firm; she also is an ideal example for ambitious women attorneys who wish to excel in this profession. Denise works hard, delivers superb client service every day, trains and mentors associates and is a person others enjoy working around.”
Drake is among 51 female attorneys across Missouri selected for the Women’s Justice Awards. Since 1999, the awards have celebrated women whose exemplary skills help improve the quality of the overall justice system. The Litigation Practitioner Award recognizes litigators who have made their careers in the courtroom – criminal or civil, representing plaintiff or defense.
With more than 25 years of experience, Drake has provided counsel for management side clients in all aspects of employment law disputes. Her experience includes nationwide class and collective action cases, and single plaintiff trials and arbitrations involving discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims. She is known not only for her litigation skills, but also for her dedication in mentoring other women interested in the field of law.
“I am incredibly honored to be recognized among this esteemed group of attorneys who are not only excellent lawyers, but passionate about our profession and serving the communities in which we live and work,” said Drake. “I am also excited to see more and more women in the first chair role at trials and in high-level leadership positions in the legal profession.”
Throughout her career, Drake has been recognized by clients and industry organizations for her legal skills. She was named one of the “Top 250 Female Litigators in America” by Benchmark Litigation; “Lawyer of the Year” in Labor and Employment by Best Lawyers®; Band 1 Ranking for Labor & Employment in Kansas City by Chambers USA; and selected for inclusion in “Best of the Bar” by the Kansas City Business Journal, to name a few.
