POLSINELLI PAC: Polsinelli Announces Office Managing Partners for Kansas City

Polsinelli PAC issued the following announcement on July 1.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli announced today the appointment of Shareholders Mary Jane Judy and Greg Kratofil, Jr. as the Office Managing Partners for Kansas City, Mo. Judy and Kratofil’s responsibilities will include oversight and management of Polsinelli’s headquarters and largest office.

Both Judy and Kratofil have spent their entire legal careers in Kansas City and with Polsinelli. Both attorneys are also leaders within their respective departments, and have demonstrated broader civic leadership through nonprofit service and community engagement. Judy, who began with the firm in 2006, is a member of Polsinelli’s Real Estate Practice. Kratofil, who has been with the firm for 20 years, chairs the Technology Transactions and Data Privacy Practice.

“Mary Jane and Greg are accomplished leaders within their respective practices. Throughout their careers, they have both demonstrated an impressive drive and commitment to our clients, our firm and the broader community,” said Polsinelli Chairman and CEO Chase Simmons. “We have utmost confidence that the combined passion and strategic energy they bring to our firm will yield outstanding leadership of our Kansas City office.”

The office managing partner role is filled by leading attorneys across the country in Polsinelli’s 22 office locations.

Judy and Kratofil’s new responsibilities as dual Office Managing Partners will include day-to-day management of the Kansas City office, with a focus on reinforcing community and civic involvement for the office and its attorneys.

As a member of Polsinelli’s national Real Estate Practice, Judy’s practice focuses on complex real estate transactions. Judy specializes in leading teams of lawyers on large portfolio transactions, from dozens to hundreds of properties. She also advises health care clients on unique regulatory issues related to their real estate holdings.

Judy was recently appointed by Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Sly James as the new President of the Board of Kansas City Parks and Recreation Commissioners, adding to her lengthy resume of community service and regional engagements.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Greg in this role,” said Judy. “This new opportunity will allow us to work as a team, moving our Kansas City office forward as we continue to foster and grow the presence of our attorneys as leaders in the Kansas City civic community.

Greg Kratofil, Jr.

As chair of Polsinelli’s Technology Transactions and Data Privacy Practice, Kratofil provides strategic guidance in the creation, acquisition and use of technology. He is a recognized leader in the health care technology and information security industries. Kratofil has also been integral in the development of Kansas City’s technology startup community, assisting entrepreneurs with formation, financing, technology development and licensing.

At Polsinelli, Kratofil leads a team of technology attorneys with one of the top national practices in financial technology; healthcare technology; and privacy and cybersecurity. Kratofil was recently honored by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as a 2019 Influential Lawyer; he was also named to the Techweek 100 by Techweek Kansas City in 2018.

“As we build on the legacy created by Russ Welsh and others, I am honored to work with Mary Jane in executing Chase’s vision,” said Kratofil. “Polsinelli has an important role to play in the future of Kansas City. I look forward to helping create that future.”

Jodie Hughey: Chief People and Communications Officer

Simmons also announced the newly-established role of Chief People and Communications Officer for Jodie Hughey, longtime Human Resources Officer of the firm.

“In recognition of Jodie’s versatile ability to broaden her scope of duties as our firm has grown, this role just made sense,” Simmons explained. “Jodie is agile, perceptive and an incredibly results-oriented. We couldn’t be more pleased to entrust both our people and our firm’s strategic communications efforts to Jodie’s skillful hand.”
