Polsinelli PAC issued the following announcement on July 31.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli, and its Diversity and Inclusion Committee Chair, Shareholder Dan Cranshaw, will be honored with the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Award by Missouri Lawyers Media. Additionally, Polsinelli’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, J. Danielle Carr, is also a recipient of the award, as the former president of the Mound City Bar Association.

The firm, Cranshaw and Carr are among 19 individuals and law firm recipients recognized for significantly advancing diversity, inclusion, and the dignity of all people in Missouri’s legal profession and in communities in which exceptional legal work impacts justice for all.

Cranshaw, based in the firm’s Kansas City office, is a commercial litigator who helped propel Polsinelli to a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index, measuring workplace LGBTQ inclusion. In addition, due in part to his dedication to diversity and inclusion, Polsinelli has been recognized by Law360 as one of the top law firms in the country for hiring diverse attorneys. Cranshaw understands the importance of diverse recruitment efforts, as this year’s Polsinelli Summer Associate Class is 60 percent diverse.

“At Polsinelli, we are intentional about evolving and improving diversity and inclusion in our offices,” said Polsinelli Chairman and CEO Chase Simmons. “Dan Cranshaw has spent countless hours outside of his law practice to provide professional development and mentorship to his colleagues to ensure we are at the leading edge of diversity efforts in our profession. I am proud of our firm, and of Dan’s work, and am pleased about the Missouri Lawyers Media recognition.”

“I am humbled and honored that Missouri Lawyers Media has recognized our collective efforts on a subject that has been very important to me since a very young age,” said Cranshaw. “My approach to everything I undertake, whether it is for our firm or for our community, is based around a greater common good, and making sure everyone is treated fairly, equitably and respectfully.“

Missouri Lawyers Media also noted Cranshaw’s commitment to inclusion and justice for all through his civic engagement in Kansas City. As chairman of the Kansas City chapter for the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, a member of the Kansas City Board of Directors of School Smart Kansas City, a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Neighborhood Initiative and as Chairman of the Board for Swope Community Enterprises, Cranshaw has made a lasting impression in the lives of many people in Kansas City’s urban core.

Missouri Lawyers Media will honor the recipients of the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Award at an event at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. on Friday, August 9, 2019.
