Thompson Coburn LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.
John Galvin and Suzanne Galvin, a husband-and-wife team of nationally recognized litigators, have joined Thompson Coburn’s St. Louis office. John and Suzanne join Thompson Coburn from the firm formerly known as Fox Galvin LLC.
John has represented U.S. and international clients in major litigation and multi-district litigation in Missouri and beyond, including some of the most challenging state and federal jurisdictions in the country. His clients include major companies facing litigation over medical devices, pharmaceuticals and environmental mass tort actions. Over his 30-year career, John has served on national trial teams and as national settlement counsel.
Suzanne has successfully defended clients facing complex litigation across the country, including medical products and pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. She has also defended companies in major environmental and products liability litigation. Both Suzanne and John are certified mediators.
In 2016, John and Suzanne stepped back from the practice of law to work full-time as crisis relief chaplains for The BGEA Rapid Response Team. For a year, they crisscrossed the country providing counseling to Americans dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes, tornados and civil unrest. They also traveled to a post-earthquake Haiti, and in Iraq, helped Yazidi and Muslim refugees — many of them women and children — driven from their homes by ISIS.
“John and Suzanne are outstanding litigators and wonderful, service-oriented people,” said Thompson Coburn Chairman Tom Minogue. “We’re thrilled to have them join our national litigation teams and add their deep experience in multi-district litigation and medical device and pharmaceutical litigation. They practice with passion and integrity, and those are the exact attributes we look for in attorneys joining our team.”
“We’re excited to join a large national firm like Thompson Coburn, which provides a broad platform of legal and administrative support for our litigation clients,” said John. “The Firm’s strong commitment to civic and charitable causes is another huge draw. Suzanne and I have dedicated a large part of our lives to serving others, and it’s wonderful to join a Firm that shares those values.”
John earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and obtained a B.A. in English from Marquette University. Suzanne earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa School of Law and a B.A. in Russian Studies from Southern Methodist University.
The couple are the founders of New Commandment Ministries, a nonprofit that helps at-risk children in the U.S. and Nairobi, Ukraine, and Haiti with projects that provide education, medical care, vocational training, and fresh water.
