Mayor Quinton Lucas has selected Shook Partner Russell Shankland, along with seven others, to serve on the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City (EDCKC) Board of Directors. The EDCKC provides professional assistance to businesses and the community to help strengthen Kansas City’s economic and building environment.
“These appointees have served our neighborhoods, schools and communities for years and I’m glad to have these residents looking out for Kansas City’s best interests when it comes to economic development,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.
Shankland is a litigator who serves clients in the banking and financial services, and technology and telecommunications industries. In 2012, he was part of a trial team that earned Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Largest Defense Verdict.
“It’s an important time in Kansas City’s growth. I’m thrilled to play a role in helping attract, retain and expand business and opportunity in our city,” said Shankland, who is a native of Kansas City. “People around the nation and world are realizing what we locals have long known: Kansas City is a jewel.”
