THOMPSON COBURN LLP: Labor and employment attorney David Deterding joins Thompson Coburn

Thompson Coburn LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Labor and employment attorney David Deterding has joined Thompson Coburn’s St. Louis office as a partner. David was previously a partner at HeplerBroom LLC.

David advises domestic and international employers on a wide range of human resource and corporate risk matters. He has successfully defended clients against civil actions and administrative claims related to harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, defamation, and breach of contract, among other claims. David works closely with in-house counsel and corporate management to develop employment policies, draft employee communications and manage risk.

“David is a talented legal advisor and litigator with a depth of experience in federal and state employment law,” said Cliff Godiner, co-chair of Thompson Coburn’s Labor and Employment practice. “As our busy employment law practice continues to grow, David will help us provide exceptional legal services to clients across a wide range of industry sectors.”

David is an active member of the Human Resource Management Association of Greater St. Louis, the St. Louis Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL).

He earned his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law, where he served as the lead editor of the Saint Louis University Law Journal. David obtained a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Northwestern University.

David is a Leffingwell Society Member of Forest Park Forever and serves as a board member of Echelon, an auxiliary of The Salvation Army. He is also an Ambassador Board Member with Mission: St. Louis, a nonprofit that addresses systemic poverty through projects focused on education, employment and community.
