HUSCH BLACKWELL LLP: Husch Blackwell Joins Law Firm Antiracism Alliance

Hs

Husch Blackwell LLP issued the following announcement on June 26.

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that it has joined the newly formed Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA), a group dedicated to addressing inequality and social injustice, as well as the structures that allow inequalities to propagate.

More than 125 law firms have signed on to the LFAA. LFAA states in its charter that its purpose is to “leverage the resources of the private bar in partnership with legal services organizations to amplify the voices of communities and individuals oppressed by racism, to better use the law as a vehicle for change that benefits communities of color and to promote racial equity in the law.”

“We made the decision to join because we want to take concrete action to fight inequality in our communities,” said Chairman Greg Smith, Partner and Chair-Elect Catherine Hanaway and Chief Executive Paul Eberle in a statement. “The LFAA charter recognizes that ‘the private bar has historically been involved in serving underrepresented communities and individuals, supporting entities that serve those communities and advancing civil rights causes primarily through law firm pro bono programs.’ Indeed, Husch Blackwell has a robust pro bono program, and we intend to make sure we focus it in ways that help dismantle structural or systemic racism in the law.”

Husch Blackwell’s membership in LFAA is one initiative the firm has taken as part of a commitment to create and support positive community change. Read the firm’s recent leadership statement.
