ST. LOUIS – Mark McCloskey straddles the political fence, contributing campaign cash to Democrats locally and Republicans nationally.

He has given $9,000 to Democratic sister and brother Robin and Russ Carnahan, more than he has given to all other Democrats together.

He gave Robin $750 in 2007, when she ran for a second term as Missouri secretary of state. She won. He gave her $3,000 when she ran for U.S. Senate in 2010. She lost.

He gave Russ $1,000 in 2009, when he ran for a fourth term in Congress. He won. He gave Russ $1,000 in 2012, when redistricting resulted in a primary contest with incumbent Lacy Clay. Russ lost.

He gave Russ $3,750 when he ran for lieutenant governor in 2016. He lost.

In 2010, he gave $500 to Democratic alderman candidate Bradford Kessler. He lost.

In 2012, he gave Sen. Claire McCaskill $500 in her race for a second term. She won.

In 2017, in a special aldermanic election to replace new mayor Lyda Krewson, Mark gave $600 to Steve Roberts and $500 to Celeste Vossmeyer. They lost.

Mark gave Roberts $250 last year for his state Senate run, but after the McCloskeys made news he issued a statement that he would send it back.

On the Republican side, in 2016, Mark gave candidate Donald Trump $2,600 and wife Patricia McCloskey gave him $1,300.

They haven’t contributed to him since, though Patricia has given $695 to the Republican National Committee.

In 1992, Mark gave $1,000 to President Bush’s campaign for a second term. He lost.

In 1996, Mark gave $1,000 to the Republican National Committee and $500 to incumbent Congressman Bill Phelps. He won.

In 2000, he gave $2,000 to Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.
