Class action lawsuit: River City Casino didn't deliver furlough salaries

Federal Court
Rivercity

ST. LOUIS - The River City Casino and Hotel is facing a class action lawsuit from a St. Louis man who says the casino dishonored its COVID-19 pandemic furlough agreements.

The suit says that plaintiff Louis Grone, an employee of the casino, was furloughed without pay alongside several other employees on April 1, 2020. He received a severance agreement that said his employment would be terminated on Aug. 17, 2020, and that he would receive his regular salary and benefits through the termination date.

Despite being entitled to his regular salary and benefits as outlined the agreement, Grone says he has not been compensated for his salary since being furloughed.

Grone is suing the casino for one count of breach of contract; he is requesting the court order damages in lost wages to each member of the class, in addition to attorney fees and other costs deemed proper by the court.

The plaintiff is represented by the Meador Law Firm, LLC, of St. Louis. The suit was first filed in September in St. Louis County Circuit Court but was recently removed to federal court by the defendant.
