Personal injury payback demanded from Menards by woman who trips on escalator

ST. LOUIS - The outdoors and home improvement store Menards faces a personal injury lawsuit in St. Louis by a woman who fell on an escalator.

According to the January lawsuit, plaintiff Barbara Muhammad was shopping in the Menards at 1700 S. Hanley Rd. in St. Louis on October 18, 2018. She allegedly tripped and fell after her cart got stuck or hung up at the bottom of the escalator.

Muhammad says she was further injured due to the escalator not having an emergency stop button, so another shopper was not able to stop moving before running into her laying on the ground at the bottom of the escalator.

Menards is charged with premises liability, for which Muhammad wants at least $25,000 in damages. She is represented by the Summary Law Firm of St. Louis.

The defendant removed the case to federal court on March 19.
