ST. LOUIS - The Bank of America Plaza on Market Street in St. Louis faces a personal injury lawsuit from a woman who says she needed a hip replacement after tripping on a rug in the building.

The complaint was filed on February 18 in the Circuit Court of the City of of Saint Louis by plaintiff Mary Macaulay, a St. Louis woman who visited the Bank of America Plaza on August 24, 2018.

According to the plaintiff, a rug was in the entrance of the Bank of America Plaza building that was not lying flat on the ground. Macaulay says she tripped on the rug after entering the revolving doors and seriously injured her right hip in her fall.

Macaulay says she required surgical intervention and a complete hip replacement as a result of the fall.

The Plaza is managed by Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc. and owned by St. Louis BOA Place LLC.

The defendants are charged with negligence and premises liability. They recently removed the case to federal court.

Macaulay is represented by Curtis, Heinz, Garrett and O'Keefe PC of St. Louis.
