Lawsuit: Express Scripts bullied disabled Black employee

Federal Court
Lawsuit

ST. LOUIS - Express Scripts of Clayton removed a discrimination accusation from a former employee to federal court on April 23.

The complaint was filed on March 2 in the St. Louis County Circuit Court by plaintiff Teresa Harris, who worked for the defendant as a Scrum master at a St. Louis County location from October 2019 to January 2020.

Harris says she was discriminated against for her knee replacement that occurred shortly before her employment began, including her supervisor, Andy Grossman, making comments about Harris' limited mobility and suggesting she take walks to lose some weight.

Another defendant employee, Yuan Cunningham, allegedly referred to the plaintiff as "the fat black girl."

The harassment allegedly continued until Harris was terminated for her disability and race, but Harris says that Grossman offered to retain her employment if she gave him sexual favors in return.

Harris sues the defendant for multiple Title VII civil rights violations including race discrimination, wrongful termination, failure to hire, disability discrimination, hostile work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The plaintiff is represented by HKM Employment Attorneys LLP of Town and Country.
