Lawsuit alleging age, gender discrimination in government research agency leveled up to federal court

Federal Court

ST. LOUIS - A government contractor staffing company and a federal defense, aviation, information technology and biomedical research company were brought to court in Missouri for alleged gender and age discrimination.

The complaint was filed on Nov. 25, 2020, in the City of St. Louis Circuit Court by plaintiff Cindy Laub. The complaint was removed to federal court on April 30.

The defendants in the case are Allstaff Technical Solutions Inc., a staffing agency providing services to the government for contractors, and Leidos Inc., the research company.

Through Allstaff, Laub worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. She was 61 years old at the time of the alleged incidents.

Leidos took over the Army Corps of Engineers so all PC Techs such as Laub became Leidos employees. At the time, she and one other tech, William Patient, were employed there.

Leidos then allegedly hired multiple new, young techs.

Laub says that she was called into a meeting with Patient and supervisors who told that Laub and Patient they were too old, and that Leidos wanted younger and more energetic employees.

After reporting the meeting to her superiors, Laub was allegedly terminated in retaliation, as was Patient.

The defendants are charged with age and gender discrimination and retaliation.

The plaintiff is represented by Ponder Zimmermann LLC of St. Louis.
