ST. LOUIS -- A couple are suing a manufacturing company, claiming to have suffered smoke damage after a furnace condensate pan ignited.

Pamela and Gerald Brink filed a complaint on May 24 in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County against Goodman Manufacturing Company for strict liability, negligence and breach of implied warranty. The defendant recently removed the case to federal court.

According to the complaint, on February 11, 2020, the Brinks owned an Armana furnace manufactured and distributed by Goodman Manufacturing Company. On said date, the blower motor of the furnace failed, causing the furnace condensate pan to ignite and cause widespread damage, the suit claims.

The Brinks allege that it is the manufacturer's fault for not warning about malfunctions of the unit.

The Brinks seek at least $300,000, attorneys fees and cost of suit. The Brinks are represented by Matthew R. Leffler of Evans and Dixon, LLC.
