Armstrong Teasdale LLP issued the following announcement on July 28.

Armstrong Teasdale announces that Partner Kelly A. Echols has joined the firm, working from both Kansas City and Salt Lake City; Partner Gregory G. Johnson has joined in Denver; and Associate Gabriela Baeza-Stout has joined the firm in St. Louis. They add to the roster of more than 340 attorneys at Armstrong Teasdale throughout the U.S. and U.K.

Echols is an experienced patent attorney focused on advising clients and inventors as it relates to the chemical arts. He primarily counsels clients in the life sciences and industrial chemistry sectors, including pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic, waste conversion, cleantech, battery component and chemical companies. Echols enjoys developing creative global patent portfolio strategies that maximize product value. Additionally, he has significant experience advising clients on intellectual property in the context of transactions and is skilled in addressing the myriad complexities such deals can present. He draws upon his prior experience as in-house Director of Contracts and Patent Counsel for a major biopharmaceutical company, to assist clients in protecting their most critical products and assets.

Johnson is a registered patent attorney with more than 15 years of experience. Focusing his practice on patent prosecution, Johnson helps startups, Fortune 100 companies and inventors protect their innovations and most critical assets. A former software developer, he leverages his experience to best serve his clients and understands the intricacies involved in software and computer technology. Having worked with companies in the tech, electrical and software industries for over 15 years, Johnson primarily represents clients in preparation and prosecution of patent and design applications, infringement analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, reexamination proceedings, litigation support and validity reviews.

Baeza-Stout is an accomplished attorney with years of experience both in-house and in private practice. She has broad experience in corporate and M&A matters, as well as in intellectual property as it relates to transactional law. She is skilled at developing and implementing strategies for her clients to reduce risk and enhance efficiency, and based on her work in-house, is a true partner in every aspect of the client relationship. While in-house for a major communications company, Baeza-Stout routinely negotiated and documented strategic M&A transactions and joint ventures, and managed post-merger corporate reorganization planning and execution.
