ST. LOUIS - Unilever has decided to fight a class action lawsuit over its deodorant in federal court.

The company on July 22 removed the lawsuit of Brandi Goulart to St. Louis federal court. In March, she filed suit in the St. Charles County Circuit Court for false, misleading, and deceptive marketing of products under the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act.

According to the complaint, Unilever markets and sells many different consumer products, including deodorant and antiperspirant sticks. One such product is Dove - Invisible Advanced Care antiperspirant for women.

The "invisible" antiperspirant actually causes "white marks" which Dove claims doesn't happen in its advertisements. Goulart alleges that it that the white marks are actually caused by a primary active ingredient of Aluminum Zirconium Tetracholorhydex GLY. Goulart also alleges that the company is misleading in its advertisement and deceptive and its marketing of products to sell a product in which it knowns not to meet the standards of its promise.

Goulart seeks the court to find the Defendant in liable pursuant to the aforementioned nationwide claims in addition to punitive damages, cost of suit and attorney's fees. Goulart is represented by Daniel F. Harvath.
