Woman sues Red Lobster for alleged gender discrimination

ST. LOUIS - Kimberly Rowe filed a federal complaint on Aug. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Red Lobster Restaurants for alleged violation of civil rights and equal pay laws.

According to the complaint, Rowe is a female former employee of Red Lobster Restaurants, LLC. She alleges that in 2016, she began working for the defendant as a server in Fairview Heights. During her employment, Rowe worked as a server, service professional, trainer, and bartender. 

In March 2018, Samir Abdallah was the District Manager and told Rowe he was promoting her to manager in training and that she would be paid $40,000 per year as a manager. Rowe alleges that with her promotion, she was paid lower than male counterparts which is a form of gender discrimination. 

Rowe seeks r damages including loss of wages, benefits, humiliation, loss of enjoyment of life, and other consequential damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Rowe is represented by Ferne P. Wolf.
