Former employer sues Meridian Medical Technologies for age and disability discrimination

ST. LOUIS - Gary Langley filed a lawsuit Sept. 7 in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County against Meridian Medical Technologies, Inc. for age discrimination and disability discrimination.

According to the complaint, Langley, 59, started as an employee at Meridian Medical Technologies on Jan. 7, 2019, and worked second shift at the Brentwood facility. Langley's ages and disability rendered him immunocompromised, and he was forced to take a leave of absence from April to August 2020 due to COVID-19, he says.

Langley then later learned that he had been terminated after the company decided to "downsize" and was told that it had nothing to do with his performance, but just that he was "the one selected." Langley, who at the time of his leave was more senior than another of the six Production Maintenance Supervisors, believes he was let go due to his age and disability, the suit says.

Langley is represented by S. Cody Reinberg, HKM Employment Attorneys LLP. The defendant recently removed the case to St. Louis federal court.
