Husch Blackwell issued the following announcement on Dec. 7.
Husch Blackwell partner Lowell Pearson was among three attorneys named 2022 Lawyers of the Year by Missouri Lawyers Media for their victory before the Missouri Supreme Court in closely watched litigation over the implementation of Amendment 2, a 2020 ballot initiative that Missourians passed and that would expand Medicaid coverage in the state.
“I am honored not only for this distinction but also the opportunity to have worked on such an important matter for Missourians,” Pearson said. “ I am grateful for my co-counsel at Stinson LLP and Legal Services of Missouri, and elated we prevailed for the voters who supported Amendment 2.”
The Lawyer of the Year is awarded to a lawyer whose achievements shaped the legal news of the last year in a significant way. It is one of the overall Missouri Lawyers Awards, a series that recognizes lawyers who made an impact over the past year just completed. Other awards in the series include winners of the year’s top verdicts, influential appellate advocates and champions, and law firm leaders.
In addition to Pearson’s recognition, partners Julianne Story and Bob Tomaso were named Law Firm Leaders.
Story was chosen for helping to shape both the advice given to clients and Husch Blackwell’s own policies on labor and employment law during the pandemic. Tomaso was selected for his two decades in senior law firm management positions and for his role as the current president of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
Pearson, Story and Tomaso will be honored at the Missouri Lawyers Awards in a ceremony at the Doubletree Chesterfield on January 27, 2022.
