ST. LOUIS - Sharon Warren and Kathy Tracy filed a federal lawsuit on Jan. 12 in the Eastern District of Missouri against the City of Normandy for race discrimination, hostile work environment and retaliation.

According to the lawsuit, Warren and Tracy, both white, worked for the city. In approximately January 2020, Normandy Mayor Patrick Greene resigned, and Maurice Hunt, a Black man, was appointed by Normandy’s City Council as Mayor Pro Tem.

All members of Normandy’s City Council at the time were Black, the suit claims. In March 2020, Hunt terminated the only two white employees in the public works department then went on to say he was “so proud that the whole crew in public works is African American,” the suit alleges. Warren and Tracy allege Hunt only allowed new hires to be minorities.

Warren and Tracy were caused to suffer loss of self-esteem, humiliation and emotional distress.

Warren and Tracy seek back-pay, front-pay, injunctive relief, compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, cost of suit and attorney's fees. Warren and Tracy are represented by Lauren H. Bridge of Cornerstone Law Firm.
