ST. LOUIS - Richard G. Wilson, individually and d/b/a Wilcorp Counsultants, LLC filed a lawsuit on Dec. 16 in the St. Louis County Circuit Court against the Bellefontaine Police Department, Brian Anthony Rayford and John W. Laumeir for intentional deprivations of civil rights, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment.

According to the lawsuit, on April 20, 2020, Wilson was detained and treated with excessive force to the point of bruising and bleeding. He says he was denied medical attention when requested to Officer Rayford. The charge against Wilson was listed as "Failing to Comply" and was later dropped, the suit says.

Wilson was allegedly caused to suffer personal injury, serious emotional distress, inability to sleep due to trauma, loss of ability to provide comfort and society to his wife, inability to interact and engage with police officers, lost income, pain and suffering, medical expenses, impairment of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of income.

Wilson seeks a judgment in an amount greater than $25,000 and punitive damages. Wilson is represented by Herman L. Jimerson of Jimerson Law Firm, P.C.

The defendants recently removed the case to St. Louis federal court.
