BTI Consulting Survey Ranks Shook in Top 10 Firms for Client Service

Award

The BTI Consulting Group has recognized Shook as one of the top 10 law  firms in the country in its annual client service survey, based on  rankings from law firm clients. Shook rose 14 spots to be ranked No. 9  in client service after appearing in the top 30 in the survey for the  first time last year.

The BTI Client Service A-Team 2022 survey  is based on interviews with 350 general counsel and other in-house  legal officials and decision-makers and includes hundreds of law firms  that work with U.S. clients. Out of 650 core law firms serving large and  Fortune 1000 clients, only 281 firms were mentioned by legal  decision-makers for the survey. Of this group of 281 law firms, Shook  was one of only 59 firms clients ranked as improving in performance  compared to the previous year.

Firms were rated by in-house counsel on the services offered in relevant  client service activities, and this year included law firms’  performances in response to new expectations in a post-pandemic legal  environment. According to BTI, 55% of clients have a new world view on  managing their own legal departments which includes outside counsel.  Shook excelled at all 17 of the client services specified, including two  new categories this year—“Deals With Complexity” and “Provides  Practical Solutions.”

Shook’s No. 9 ranking among the top 30 major law firms reflects the  firm’s ability to meet clients’ peak workloads following a rush of  lawsuits previously put on hold by the closing of courts during the  pandemic, which included Shook expanding services and entering into new  markets in 2021.

BTI described the 59 firms that increased performance, noting: “These  firms knew how to help their clients and acted quickly—without being  asked. Some were already best-in-class performers and others got a shot  of client service adrenaline—they moved from very good to excellent.”
