4

Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C., is pleased to announce that St. Louis-based Carmen White has been promoted to Director of Diversity and Community Relations.

Since her addition to the firm in 2016 as Diversity & Inclusion Manager, White has established herself as a pivotal force behind the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. In recent years, her role has expanded to include more oversight of community initiatives, an important pillar of the firm’s core values.

White plays a large role in Greensfelder’s recruiting and retention efforts and has established relationships with the Saint Louis University School of Law and Washington University Law School to help strengthen the pipeline of diverse talent in the legal industry. She works extensively with these St. Louis-based law schools to help connect diverse law students with practicing attorneys to build continuing relationships and to progress the Greensfelder Diversity Fellowship program for first-year law students.

White has coordinated the firm’s efforts to enter Diversity Lab’s new Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification process, joining a prestigious list of firms that have demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and boosting the representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in firm leadership. White also leads the firm’s community and volunteer efforts including significant support in 2022 of a Mound City Bar Foundation scholarship program for Black students at St. Louis law schools.

White’s work has been recognized by numerous organizations for excellence in furthering DEI efforts, including the Saint Louis University School of Law Black Law Students Association’s Ronda F. Williams Service Award, a Diversity & Inclusion Award from Missouri Lawyers Media, and Hero in Diversity recognition from St. Louis Small Business Monthly. She also was selected for the 2020-21 class of FOCUS St. Louis’ Impact Fellows program.

White earned her Master of Public Affairs degree from Indiana University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri. Before joining Greensfelder, she served as a municipal policy analyst who developed and led the implementation of an equity and human rights effort for the city of Tacoma, Washington.
