Shook Welcomes Back IP Attorney and Three New Faces

Shook welcomes back Intellectual Property Attorney Jason Mudd and three new attorneys, David Lee, Jorge Maranto and Evan Weidner. Mudd and Weidner focus their practices on IP litigation, while Lee and Maranto focus their practices on IP prosecution.

Mudd is returning as of counsel and will be based in Shook’s Kansas City office. He has experience representing clients in IP litigation matters, with a focus on patent litigation, before U.S. District courts nationally, as well as the U.S. Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has counseled clients in over 50 inter partes reviews and argued final oral arguments in 10 inter partes reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Lee is joining as of counsel in the firm’s New York office. He has experience providing in-house representation and legal advice for leading global market research companies on intellectual property, data protection, privacy, compliance, litigation and general commercial issues. He has drafted, negotiated and reviewed company documents, data license agreements, end user license agreements and privacy policies.

Maranto is joining as an associate in the firm’s Houston office. He has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a broad range of technologies with a focus on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, performing patent portfolio assessments and reviewing non-disclosure agreements.

Weidner is joining as an associate in the firm’s Kansas City office. His experience includes managing and litigating numerous cases, as well as drafting and answering discovery requests and drafting pleadings and motions.

Their addition bolsters Shook’s Intellectual Property group, which has a long history of success representing national and multinational companies in acquiring, maintaining and protecting IP rights. The firm’s IP services include assisting clients with intellectual property litigation and intellectual property prosecution and counseling.
