Tim Garrison Receives Judge Advocate Association's Outstanding Career Judge Advocate Award

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that partner Tim Garrison received the Outstanding Career Judge Advocate Award from the Judge Advocates Association (JAA).

A decorated Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel, Garrison entered active duty in 2003 as a Legal Assistance officer and Trial Counsel. As a prosecutor, he was deployed to Anbar Province, Iraq to investigate and prepare prosecutions for alleged war crimes with the highest international media interest and presidential and congressional oversight.

The Outstanding Career Judge Advocate Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the Armed Services by career attorneys serving as Judge Advocates. Nominees must be at least 35 years of age and have a demonstrated record of outstanding professional accomplishments, service to community, service to the legal profession, and development of subordinates.

Garrison continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve where he has served as a Regional Judge Advocate and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the 4th Marine Division. In addition, he mobilized and saw combat as Chief of Operational Law in Afghanistan. Returning stateside, Garrison worked on military criminal justice legislation and policy at the Pentagon. He then served as a Military Justice Attorney for the Headquarters Marine Corps, as Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as Associate Deputy General Counsel for International Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Based on the depth of his experience and service, he was recently selected to serve as an Appellate Military Judge on the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. His service and accomplishments while on active duty and in the reserves reflect the highest traditions and reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of Defense.

Garrison is based in Springfield, Missouri, and is a member of Husch Blackwell’s White Collar, Internal Investigations & Compliance practice team. Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, he was the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
