Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that partners Jenna Brofsky, Kelli Meilink, and JoAnn Sandifer are being honored by Missouri Lawyers Media at this year’s Women’s Justice Awards.
St. Louis-based Sandifer will receive a 2023 Litigation Practitioner Award, which is given to litigators who “have made their careers in the courtroom — criminal or civil, representing plaintiff or defense.” For more than 30 years, Sandifer has been a fierce advocate for her clients and their business interests. During her career she has handled more than 75 appeals, helping clients to secure significant wins. Although she works on cases nationwide, Sandifer is especially fond of working on cases that advance civic projects in her own community, such as St. Louis’ Loop Trolley project and renovation of the Scottrade Center.
Based in Kansas City, Brofsky and Meilink have been honored with a 2023 Pro Bono Award, which honors the women attorneys who have contributed significant effort and time to pro bono work. Meilink and Brofsky presented the idea for a large-scale pro bono program to assist Afghan refugees facing the one-year deadline to file for affirmative asylum in the U.S. after the fall of the Afghan government in August 2021. Meilink and Brofsky led the firm’s efforts to partner with local non-profit the Jewish Vocational Service of Kansas City (JVS) to assist more than 50 individuals with their affirmative asylum applications. As part of their efforts, Husch Blackwell presented Brofsky and Meilink with the 2022 Pro Bono Impact Award.
Missouri Lawyers Media’s annual Women’s Justice Awards program celebrates women across Missouri who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice, and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession. This year’s WJA recipients will be honored at a May 18, 2023, event at The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza St. Louis.
