John Borkowski and Aleks Rushing will present, "Beyond the Basics: Athletics Issues Involving Students Identifying as Transgender," at the National School Boards Association (NSBA) 2023 Annual Conference and Exposition on April 2, 2023, at 8 a.m. in Orlando, FL.

Since the Supreme Court's historic Bostock decision finding that Title VII guarantees protection from workplace discrimination to people who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community, there have been major implications for employers nationwide. The Biden Administration has released several Executive Orders and guidance documents from OCR regarding protections for LGBTQ+ students, including in the classroom, athletics, and other school-sponsored activities. This session will go beyond the basics and dive into nuanced issues and practical tips on how to navigate them in school districts.

Speakers:

John W. Borkowski, Partner

Aleks O. Rushing, Attorney
