A man's estate blames a chemical compound in herbicide products for his death.

The estate of Norman Lee Thompson filed its federal lawsuit against Chevron U.S.A. Inc., Syngenta Crop Protection LLC, Syngenta Corporation and Syngenta AG. The plaintiffs – Dana Thompson, David Thompson and Norma Priest – are the surviving children of Norman Thompson and Mary Jane Thompson. They allege their father's exposure to paraquat products developed by the defendants led to his death.

Paraquat is a synthetic chemical compound used as an active ingredient in herbicide products since the mid-1960s. The plaintiffs claim their father was regularly exposed to these products while working as a farmer in Missouri from the 1980s through 2023. They argue  exposure to paraquat can cause diseases in humans, including Parkinson's disease.
