Cambridge University Press has published “ERISA Principles,” written by WashULaw Professor Peter Wiedenbeck and Brendan Maher of Texas A&M University School of Law.
“ERISA Principles” elucidates employee benefit law from a policy perspective, explaining how common themes apply across a wide range of benefit plans and factual contexts. The book includes latent similarities and rationalizes differences between the regulatory treatment of apparently disparate programs, including traditional pensions, 401(k), and health care plans. Important statutory, judicial, and administrative legal developments are framed and analyzed in an accessible, principles-centric manner, explaining how ERISA functions as a coherent whole.
Other ERISA scholarship from Professor Wiedenbeck includes “The Executive Compensation Threat to Retirement” and “Unbelievable: ERISA’s Broken Promise”.
