A former corrections officer has sued the Missouri Department of Corrections and several of its officials alleging he was subjected to disability discrimination.

Orville McDonald filed his lawsuit in federal court against MDOC.

According to the complaint, McDonald says he was subjected to discrimination due to his disability during his employment at Potosi Correctional Center from December 2, 2022, through April 18, 2023.

He claims he experienced violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 and the Missouri Human Rights Act.

McDonald accuses various MDOC officials including David Vandergriff, Jason Jakoubek, James Fox, Randall Odle, Jeremiah Richardson among others for failing to properly accommodate his disability needs during his employment.

He seeks compensatory damages.
