Effective August 14, 2024, Chris Hohn assumed the role of chair at national law firm Thompson Coburn, taking over from Roman Wuller, who has led the firm since 2020.
The transition comes at a time of sustained financial, geographic and practice growth for the firm and demonstrates the success of its long-term strategic plan to transition seamlessly to next-generation leadership. Hohn and Wuller have worked together closely over the past year in preparation for the move, which was announced in September 2023.
Hohn had served for the past four years as chair of the 200-plus member Litigation Department and served on the Executive Committee. With Hohn’s move to chair, Laura Jordan takes the role of chair of the Litigation Department. The two had co-chaired the department since the 2023 transition announcement.
“I am grateful to Roman for his mentorship and leadership,” Hohn said. “He has been a great friend and teacher and very giving of his time to make sure I was fully integrated in every aspect of the role. His dedication has been invaluable in setting up the firm for continued success.”
Wuller shepherded Thompson Coburn through unprecedented challenges after becoming chair in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. His tenure oversaw the addition of the firm’s New York and Birmingham offices, as well as significant growth in Dallas and strategic additions in other locations. A longtime proponent of the firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts, he was the founding chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and has been a member of the Management Committee for more than two decades.
Wuller said he sees Hohn as a steadfast and strategic leader. “Chris will focus on growth while protecting the firm’s culture, and he is well-respected by our partners and clients alike,” he said. “It has been a pleasure to work with him over the past year in preparation for this next phase.”
Hohn agreed that keeping a growth mindset is at the top of his list of priorities. However, he said, “this isn’t about growth only in terms of the firm’s size or geographic scope. It’s also growth in our client relationships, our professional development, our technology, our diversity and inclusion efforts — in every aspect of what drives our culture and achievements.”
