Polsinelli Grows Patent Roster in St. Louis with Former Life Sciences In-House Counsel Benjamin J. Sodey

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has welcomed experienced life sciences patent attorney Benjamin J. Sodey as counsel in the firm’s Biotech & Life Science Patent Prosecution Practice and in the St. Louis office. Joining Polsinelli from an in-house role at a major life sciences company, Sodey has more than 20 years of experience in counseling and representing employers and clients in biotechnology and pharmaceutical intellectual property matters. His addition underscores Polsinelli’s recent growth of its  life sciences team. The firm added several life sciences-focused shareholders as part of a major lateral move and Philadelphia office opening last month and recently also added Chad Landmon as the new Hatch-Waxman & Biologics Practice Chair.

Sodey is skilled in IP strategy, patent drafting and prosecution, global patent portfolio management, patent licensing, patent litigation and administrative proceedings, and media/communications strategies. He has extensive experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and cell therapy techniques as well as with small- and large-molecule pharmaceuticals. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law and holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Simpson College.
