UB Greensfelder LLP is proud to announce that the firm has achieved 2023-2024 Mansfield Certification in recognition of its continued efforts to prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) for attorneys firmwide. Mansfield is a year-long structured certification process to which the firm has committed to ensure everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to advance into leadership. The focus is on opening the door wider and ensuring that opportunities for advancement are transparent and inclusive for everyone. By asking that at least 30% of our talent pools considered for leadership roles consist of underrepresented groups and that our advancement processes are transparent, Mansfield creates a level playing field for all.

“We are proud to once again earn Mansfield Certification and honored to stand with the more than 360 law firms that are advancing the belief that everyone should have a fair opportunity for career advancement,” said Scott P. Kadish, UB Greensfelder Co-Managing Partner. “The firm has made it a priority to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive culture where opportunities and support exist for all.”

Kevin T. McLaughlin, UB Greensfelder Co-Managing Partner, added, “We believe that by making our workplace one where everyone can succeed, we can better serve our clients and communities. Prior to our February combination, both legacy firms had achieved Mansfield Certification, another cultural alignment that we shared, and together we are taking this commitment to improving our organization to the next level.”

“Mansfield Certification is a critical component of a strong firm DEIB program. It creates an evolving framework for the firm to follow,” said Alvin E. Mathews, Jr., UB Greenfelder Chief Diversity Officer. “Ultimately, expanding the talent pool to include diverse backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints and providing more leadership opportunities enables us to make better-informed decisions and strengthens our overall effectiveness.”

As Mansfield’s certification criteria grow increasingly challenging each year, participating firms have consistently recommitted to the core principles of transparency, accountability, and knowledge sharing. This data-driven process has transformed how many participating firms operate. Before Mansfield, fewer than half had transparent leadership job descriptions or advancement processes and less than a quarter tracked the diversity of their leadership pipelines.

UB Greensfelder's DEIB efforts and DEIB Committee are led by Partner Alvin E. Mathews, Jr.; Carmen White, Director of Diversity Initiatives and Civic Engagement; and Counsel Yvette R. Simpson, Director of Culture and Belonging. Together, they champion new ideas and fresh perspectives, understanding that a diverse and inclusive culture creates a balanced, more rewarding workplace where attorneys and staff can grow and flourish.
