WashU Law celebrates the release of “The Seven Tensions of Negotiation” by Distinguished Teaching Professor Cash Nickerson, MBA ’95, JD ’85. A best-selling author, lawyer, and business leader, Nickerson serves on Washington University’s Board of Trustees and as chair of the WashU Law National Council. He earned both a JD and an MBA from WashU and is currently a JSD candidate.
In this book, Nickerson draws on 40 years of experience, combining business acumen and martial arts wisdom to address the complexities of negotiation. He challenges traditional “win-win” strategies and emphasizes managing tensions like relationship dynamics and timing constraints in lieu of competitive approaches.
Nickerson widely shares his negotiation expertise with the WashU community. He teaches “Business Negotiation Theory & Practice,” guiding students through tactics, and coaches the law school’s team to success. His contributions enrich the academic environment and inspire the next generation of legal professionals. WashU Law congratulates Cash on the publication of his eighth book!
